Is Holiday Season Cancelled?

Is the holiday season cancelled?

Thanksgiving weekend is my favorite weekend of the year. Although turkey day itself is based on an idea I’m questioning more than ever, the weekend is always filled with the people and things we love the most. Sure, it’s tough to embrace the holiday spirit with the pandemic’s second wave crippling the country and the world, but there’s always something to be grateful for. I’ll miss my family dearly this time around, but it feels right to stay put.

So how do we tap into holiday cheer while staying safe and healthy?

Netflix seems to be pumping out record amounts of holiday content — I’m sure the data backs up that decision — and LACMA has an interesting exhibit outside of their museum that highlights the grossness of the “office holiday party.” Our livers will be thanking us for sitting this year out. It’s immunity building SZN.

But for those still looking to learn and connect at year’s end, we’re producing a virtual conference called MusicGamingCon with Amanotes on December 2nd and 3rd. A convergence of key individuals in music, tech, media, and brands, the event will feature two 5-hour sessions focused exclusively on the cross-pollination of culture, knowledge, and relationships in the unique world of active music interaction through gaming. We have an amazing lineup including Lee Trink (CEO of Faze Clan), Just Blaze, Bob Lefsetz, FaZe Nikan, Steve Martocci (CEO of Splice), Aaron Levant (CEO of NTWRK), Cherie Hu (Water & Music), Raphi Lima (EA Games), Kitty Ca$h, and many more. In case you missed it, we’ve teamed up with SMW+ and Triller for the launch of an original series called Beats, Bytes and Brands. On this week’s episode I chat with Bonin about his career trajectory and how he put leading brands like PepsiCo at the center of music and culture. We’re joined by Ant Demby, CEO of HumbleRiot, to discuss how brands can create a music strategy.
