When I think about Social Media Week and reflect on the past 11 years, I get super nostalgic. I distinctly remember the early days of Social Media Week including the very first one. In June of 2009 I moderated and programmed the final panel, “Digital Hip Hop,” with Miss Info, DJ Vlad, CL from Digiwaxx, Amanda Diva, and Chuck Creekmur, the founder of AllHipHop. That was a fun one. Each and every year since, we’ve stayed close. From ringing the closing bells at Nasdaq the day Facebook went public, to all-day music events at the legendary Red Bull space, it’s been a wild ride. I want to salute the Social Media Week team for a really challenging, very successful pivot.
