There’s nothing like music in the summer and as the July heat keeps climbing so do the events and opportunities.
Like this past week when I checked out the BK Hip Hop Festival. It was awesome to see that 90s era hip-hop is as moving as ever. I had a great time hearing Nas backed by the Soul Rebels and Fabolous deliver his freestyles and punchlines live under the bridge. The fest vibe will keep me fired up until this coming weekend when Panorama makes it’s debut here in New York City. I’m excited to see what kind of fresh energy Goldenvoice brings to NYC’s festival culture.
But beyond the big festivals there is some heat coming from the NYC tech world. Last week I had the honor and privilege of checking out GE’s AppFronts. It’s an event that connects up and coming app companies with some of the world’s top brands. Music.ly, Splash.fm, Slash IOS Keyboard, Ringly (wearable rings), Twitch (discussing the social eating phenomenon), Hopper (Best times to book travel) and more were all there helping direct brands on how best to utilize their innovative platforms. Sam Olstein from GE ended the event with an interesting point that next year the event might be need to be called The BotFronts.
Anyway, off to this week, which could be called the biggest week of my career. The bar keeps going up. If I don’t see you in the streets or suites, I hope to catch you at Panorama. Follow along with my Snapchat if you want to see my take on it.
