Redefining 2020

Let’s reframe this year.

2020 was the start of a new decade: The Roaring 2020’s!

It was supposed to be different. It was supposed to be about clarity. It was supposed to be about growth.

Now, it might not be happening the way we anticipated, but it’s happening. It’s happening the way we needed it to happen. We’re not just roaring, we’re screaming at the top of our lungs.

The pandemic sobered us up. It slowed us all down. It forced us to stop going out and to start looking in.

We’re learning about ourselves. We’re educating ourselves. We’re seeing our blindspots. We’re marching together. We’re unifying.

This is our chance to stand up to racism and change the country’s course. What kind of world do you want to live in?

The answer, for many, is simple: we want equality and inclusion. We want diversity of thought not because we’re supposed to but because it’s ideal. We want to celebrate each other.

I’m seeing more clearly now than ever. We have a long road ahead but at least we know which road we’re on. It’s okay to make mistakes, it’s just not okay to sit idly by. It’s time to right the past and write the future.
