Women Making History this Month

In Beats + Bytes by Nue Agency

March is Women’s History Month, an exciting opportunity to reflect on how far we’ve come as a culture, and how much further we still have to go to achieve true equality at home and abroad.

This week, my friend Cynthia Nelson released a podcast with me. Cynthia has founded multiple companies and is a thought leader in the world of live shopping and shoppable marketing. I was glad to chat with her on this fast paced, idea-packed episode.

Wednesday is the 2024 Billboard Women in Music Awards. I’m going to be on hand to celebrate music business titans I admire. Then, on Thursday, I’ll have the pleasure of sitting down with a close confidant, industry veteran Mandy Aragones. Mandy is on a hell of a run, having helped put together Slick Rick’s first album release in over 20 years. This return of Rick will be a visual album produced by Idris Elba and distributed by Nas’ label, Mass Appeal. From what I’ve had the privilege of seeing and hearing, the album is a masterpiece set to make a big impact this year. This is going to be one of those albums the whole industry talks about for a long time.

Mandy, Rick, and I have also been working with PacSun and Roblox on a new project that’s dropping this month, so we’ll have plenty to discuss. We’ll be sharing behind-the-scenes stories of putting this project together, and Mandy will dive into what it’s like to be a woman, entrepreneur, and mogul in the music business today. The show is called The Smartest in The Room and it takes place at 11am PST / 2pm EST tomorrow / Thursday. You’ll all invited, so please tune in live on the LinkedIn event page. Here’s the registration link.

After that it’s off to Austin, so if you’ll be at SXSW this weekend, I’d love to say hello. Here’s a run down of a few events I’ve got my eye on, but feel free to chime in with what’s hot and what’s not! SXSW aint dead, partner.
