I can’t believe it’s here, and yes, I feel that way every year. From Labor Day to Hanukkah and Christmas, the time goes by in the blink of an eye. No time for Friendsgiving for me this year. I’m headed out to Rhinebeck, NY for Thanksgiving to take in the foliage and spend time with my beloved family (that keeps continuing to multiply in the best possible way!)
Thanksgiving weekend means lots of things: family, food, and most importantly football. I’m sure most of us will be glued to the TV this year as the NFL has finally leveled up and is delivering its fans an extended entertainment lineup along with its Turkey Day games. The Shield announced that tomorrow’s tripleheader will feature halftime performances by Jack Harlow (Green Bay Packers vs. Detroit Lions), Dolly Parton (Dallas Cowboys vs. Washington Commanders), and Steve Aoki (Seattle Seahawks vs. San Francisco 49ers). The NFL’s head of music, Seth Dudowsky, confirmed the performances saying, “Our Thanksgiving games are among the biggest platforms in all of broadcast television, and these halftime performances continue to grow as premiere showcases for artists from across the musical spectrum.”
The NFL is smart to intertwine sports and music — just look at how influential the Super Bowl half-time show is. I’m excited to dive deeper into the data on next week’s Stat of The Week. We are seeing some great diversification of talent from the NFL this year. Crossing my fingers Steve Aoki launches pumpkin pies, instead of frosted cakes, into the stands (to get into the spirit of the holiday, of course).
Who could forget the epic Thanksgiving staple that is the Macy’s Day Parade. It’s branded content genius that has stood the test of time. The parade, along with the official New Year’s Rockin’ Eve broadcast in Times Square, are two live events that are high up on my bucket list to collaborate with. I have mega ideas for the shows -dial me in, Captain! This year, spectators will see performances and key cultural tie-ins to the parade including the following artists: Bell Biv Devoe, Brandy, Cher, En Vogue and Jon Batiste and I’d imagine some more surprises. Even more so, I’m siked there will be NFT collective-turned-lifestyle brand, Cool Cats floats on the route this year. Delighted to see the Cool Cats brand successful evolution into media and culture.
Every year after Turkey Day, life gets a little fuzzy. The food coma blends into the Black Friday sales, which then leads into the widely adopted, American Express created holiday, Small Business Saturday. From there we have my favorite shopping day of the year: Cyber Monday. And finally, Giving Tuesday.
This Giving Tuesday, I am highlighting a charity that is near and dear to us called The Resolution Project. I’ve been on the advisory board for some years now. The project is devoted to funding grants for underrepresented entrepreneurs. We’ve done an amazing job helping support its Fellows with seed funding, hands-on mentorship, access to pro-bono resources, and creating a community of like-minded peers. The Resolve Gala is circled in my calendar every year, and 2024 is already shaping up to be the best one yet, on every level. You can be part of the impact, innovation and growth happening in this community of leaders by supporting us here: resolutionproject.org/donate
As dark and unpredictable the world may seem right now, know that giving back is always a way to feel good and whole again. We all have a lot to be grateful for.
Enjoy your festivities. Wishing you all a happy holiday week.
