Greetings from Martha’s Vineyard

Greetings from Martha’s Vineyard.

My family and I have come here for 13 summers straight.

It’s a great time of year to recharge, regroup, and reset.

I’m feeling refreshed headed into the new season and there is no question New York will reclaim “place to be” status this September.

Over the break, I had the pleasure of catching up on some content, and I’m here to tell you the feel-good movie of the fall is a music film called CODA on Apple TV+.

The acronymous title is a play on Caring of Deaf Adults. In music, a coda is a passage that brings a piece to an end.

The film is about a young woman whose family members (mother, father, and brother) are deaf. She is effectively the translator between them and the outside world. She falls in love with singing; finds mentorship and her voice; and develops a talent and passion that opens new doors and brings new meaning to her life.

Music continues to intertwine with the central theme of the movie in fun and beautiful ways. It’s pretty much impossible not to cry.

Highly recommended. Enjoy these last dog days of summer.
